I know we all love homemade barbecue sauce. It is so much better than the stuff which you can get at the store. It just tastes better when you make it. But more importantly than that is to see your friends eyes light up when they say, "Where did you get the sauce?" Or, "What brand of sauce is this?"
And that is when you can proudly say that you made it yourself. Oh, watch their eyes, watch their faces. You know they will be asking you for the recipe for this homemade barbecue sauce.
Here is one you might try. Go ahead and play around with it.
Ingredients
2 cups ketchup
1 cup water
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
5 tablespoons light brown sugar
5 tablespoons sugar
1/2 tablespoon fresh ground black pepper
1/2 tablespoon onion powder
1/2 tablespoon ground mustard
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
How To Make It -
Go ahead and get out a small sauce pan and then combine all of your ingredients. Bring this mixture to a boil, and then you are going to reduce the heat to just a simmer. Cook this sauce uncovered, and stir it frequently, for about 1 hour 15 minutes.
And when thinking about a homemade barbecue sauce, think about sauteeing some celery, onions, and bell peppers first. Mince them up prretty fine and saute them, then add all the other ingredients and finish up according to this recipe. What a diffrence. And if you do not like your homemade barbecue sauce a little chuncky because you left the finely dice bell peppers, onions, and celery in there, you can always remove them.
But this sauce you can make and then call it your own. Enjoy!
