Yes, you read that right; once in awhile someone will come to you and say you really can cook beer can chicken oven, but what they really mean is that it is possible to cook, or fix this dish indoors. Beer can chicken is traditionally a dish which you would fix outdoor over your barbeque, but thanks to Chef Michael's Signature Blend BBQ Rubs you can fix this indoors, inside your kitchen, inside your oven and not one person will be able to tell the difference.
You talk about smoke and flavor and taste, but one once are you going to step outside to fix this dish.
How is that possible you say, you cannot get that smoke flavor and taste from within your own kitchen? Oh, but you can. Yes, you really can fix beer can chicken oven in your kitchen. Here is where we separate from all the rest of the BBQ seasonings out there in the marketplace.
You can take your ordinary barbeque seasoning and open it up and taste it and all you get is salt, salt, salt. I mean if we wanted to taste salt then all we would have to do is open up the round blue box and just pour it on our chicken for this beer can chicken oven.
That is not what happens when you crack a bottle of Chef Michael's Signature Blend Down Home, Southern Style Hickory BBQ Rub. The first thing that happens is it awakens your smell factor! Hickory. Yes, you can actually smell hickory wood smoke. Taste a little of it and it tastes of wood smoke. Now, imagine that flavor and taste on whatever it is that you are grilling? Or whatever it is that you are fixing inside in your kitchen especially if you are trying to do beer can chicken oven?
Take your chicken which you have bought. Rinse it well and dry it. Drizzle some vegetable oil on the bird and rub it all over with the oil. Next, take some of our Hickory BBQ Rub and very liberally put some inside the bird and on the outside. Rub it in real well. The vegetable oil allows it to stick really good to the bird. Remember what we are doing here and it is beer can chicken oven, not outdoors, not grilled, but inside our house, in the kitchen. This is so easy to do. And you are not going to have to be running back and forth from the game to the grill out back. See how easy it is for beer can chicken oven?
Ok, you have the bird oiled up and the rub all over it real good. Now take your beer can and pour about a third of it out and then put a couple of new, or extra holes in the top. What I just do is I use an old soup can. The beer can these days are just so flimsy they fall over too easily, so I just use an old, black, grimy, used soup can for for this beer can chicken oven.
Take a couple of tablespoons of our Hickory BBQ Rub and put it into the beer in the can and stir it around to get mixed up. Place your bird over the beer (or soup) can. Now here is the fun part, since we are making beer can chicken oven, we do not need to go outside with this. Just take that bird and place it in an oven proof dish on your oven rack which is placed down on the bottom of the oven. And your oven needs to be preheated to 400 degrees F.
Go ahead and cook this beer can chicken oven for about thirty minutes and then turn the oven down to 350 degrees F. You might want to check on the bird from time to time for the next two hours. That is about how long this is going to take. The reason you are checking is that if it gets too dark, meaning the skin on the outside, then all you have to do is cover the whole thing with foil, shiny side out, to reflect the heat. Check the bird with an instant read thermometer and it is done when the internal temperature reads 165 degrees F. Take the bird out of the oven and let it rest for about 15 minutes. This is very important! Do not skip this step in the beer can chicken oven!
After that you can take some tongs and remove the can from the bird. Now, you will be amazed at the smoky flavor of this beer can chicken oven. Smells just like it was smoked over a real hickory fire and you will be the only one who is the wiser about where it actually was cooked. Now this is how you cook beer can chicken oven.
